State Government extends lockdown with relaxations
The Tamil Nadu government has extended the general lockdown till Aug.31. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said that the lockdown extension has been announced based on inputs from the district collectors during a video conference on July 29 and with public health experts on July 30. He requested cooperation from the public.
The guideline also stated that E-pass should be obtained for travelling from one district to another or from one state to another. Independence Day will be celebrated in the state wearing masks and maintaining social distance. The state will observe complete lockdown on all Sunday (Aug.2, 9, 16, 23, and 30) with no relaxation.
Small temples, mosques, and churches, that is those outside the Greater Chennai Corporation, and earning less than 10000 Rs per annum can allow devotees ( with the permission of the District Collector) to enter the premises and worship. The Standard Operating Procedures prescribed by the Government should be strictly followed.

All private offices, industrial establishments, and export-oriented units can function with 75% strength.
Restaurants are allowed to operate dine-in between 6 am and 7 pm with 50% seating capacity, without AC, adhering to social distancing norms. Take-away service is allowed between 6 am and 9 pm. Tea shops can function with 50% seating capacity from 6 am to 7 pm.
Delivery of essential non-essential items, by e-commerce sites.
Vegetable shops and grocery shops are permitted to function from 6 am to 7 pm. All other shops will be permitted to open between 10 am and 7 pm.
Activities that are prohibited :
Tourists are banned from entering tourist places.
Hotels, resorts will not be operated except for COVID-19 isolation purposes.
Malls, theatres, bars, auditoriums, gyms, and swimming pools will remain closed.
Schools, colleges will continue to remain closed. Schools are advised to follow online coaching.
Public transport - bus, train, metro rail, and international flight services - will not be operated.
All social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious functions, and other gatherings and large congregations are not allowed.
