Kolu contest 2020
The Adyar Times annual kolu contest was organised virtually this year. As in the past, this year’s contest too witnessed zealous participation.
Despite the pandemic, our readers have put in their best effort to keep in with our tradition and have surpassed our judge’s (R.Padmaja and B.Parvathi) expectations with their detailed and elaborate kolu set-up.
“Each Kolu was unique in its own way. The thematic kolus were exhibited creatively and many kolus presented insights about our mythology. Some kolu touched upon themes like the ongoing covid situations, online education, board games, cricket match, village scenes, and more. The highlight of this year was the depiction of Dasavatharam using origami techniques,” said the judges.
This year’s competition is supported and sponsored by Hamsadhwani and Viswathara. The sponsors shared their happiness about this event and applauded the participants' efforts amid this pandemic. They added that their unrelenting attitude to keep up with the navaratri tradition has added colours to this festive season.
Hamsadhwani has been active in extending a helping hand to artists and technicians during this pandemic. While the sabhas are still closed, readers can check out Hamsadhwani’s Youtube channel, Hamsadhwani Sabha, for concerts online.
