AMM alumni pay tribute to teachers
The students of the 1996 batch of AMM Matriculation Higher Secondary School paid tribute to its teachers for Teacher’s Day. To name a few, the teachers are Ms.Krishna Iyer (headmistress), Mrs.Susheela Srinivasan (Principal), Ms.Padmini (Tamil), (late) Mrs.Mangalam (English), Mrs.Saroja (Biology), Mrs.Cecilia Sundaram (English), Mrs.Vijayambal (Geography), Mrs.Vanathi (History), Mrs.Meera (Maths), (late) Mrs.Meena (Maths), Mrs.Usha (Physics), Mrs. Vijayaambika (Chemistry), Mrs.Hema Knight (French), Mrs.Gargi Guha Takurtha (Hindi), Ms.Meenakshi (Comp.Sci), Mrs. Hemalatha Bhaskaran (Biology).
R.Raja Rajeswari stated that the teachers paved the way for more than academics, “We had various clubs including for self-defense. These might sound like very common things in this era, but these were given to us 30 yrs back. Isn't it great!”
Akshay Sambamoorthy and Gokulraj said, “Teachers had a very friendly approach towards students. This helped us in coming up as the Runners in State level Football competition.
Priya Sudarsan recalls, “Back in those days, AMM was a small school catering mostly to local families. So the community was very tightly knit, so I have fond memories of the school.” S. Gopal also recalls his teachers telling him that in life, it's not important to laugh but to do our best.
Divya Ramakrishna, Tamilselvan Manivasagan, Azhaguraj Thiagarajan, and Commander VK Vijay Balaji remember the life skills and values taught at the school and stated that the school instilled leadership values in them through its various co-curricular activities, camps, and excursions.
Radha Arvindh thanks the motivation and support given by the teachers during her difficult times as she moved from a girls school to the co-ed school. Priyalatha talked of how each teacher was an inspiration when she herself took up teaching.
Lavanya Natarajan also recalled the motivation from the teachers and added, “My son would definitely second the aforementioned as he is also part of the A.M.M family.”
Arulmalar Ramaraj, Sudarsan, Shrikanth Manivannan and Darshan Ponnappa said, “An amazing learning environment that has etched us into what we are today. Fundamentally, it is not what you teach that people remember over the years - but how you did it.”
