A Pensioner with a big heart

Udaviku Varalama is a touching tale that points out our responsibility in this pandemic. Conceived and written by Ratnam Koothapiram of Koothapiran Navabharath Theaters (KNT), the short film has been enacted by Y.Gee.Mahendran, his wife Sudha, and Ratnam himself.

“Y.Gee.Mahendran sir called me one day and asked me to write something that we can do as a help in this situation. Since he asked me, I immediately set to work, and in 5 minutes, sent him a script. He liked it a lot and we decided to film it immediately. As we did not have any proper equipment, my son Vignesh shot the whole film on his iPhone,” explains Ratnam.

The film describes the struggles of a retired man to get his pension credited to his account during the lockdown. And once that happens, he dreams of what to do with the money. Watch the video to know how the money is used.
